A mixture of snow & sleet resulted in a string of motor vehicle accidents today. At 1517 hours, Dunkirk VFD Squad 5, Engine 52, Ambulance 59, the Fire Chief & both Deputy Chiefs were dispatched to Route 4 in the area of Kelly Generator.

Units arrived to find a two-vehicle accident with two people trapped in a car on an embankment. Squad 5 stabilized the vehicle, removed all four doors, both “B” posts and roof to extricate both occupants. Engine 52 stood by with a charged safety line. The patients were transported to a local hospital.
